Hi, I’m Jen - Doula, educator, and mother
I’m a mother of two wonderful daughters, and it was my own experience of pregnancy and birth that first drew me towards becoming a doula.
My first pregnancy was straightforward, but what made the greatest difference was how supported I felt. I felt informed, listened to, and safe. That sense of steady, compassionate support allowed me to approach labour feeling calm and confident in my body. My birth was empowering, not because it was perfect, but because I felt seen, heard, and continuously supported throughout. That experience showed me just how powerful birth support can be. When a woman feels safe, respected and truly held, it changes everything. The atmosphere in the room shifts. Decisions feel clearer. Confidence grows. Birth becomes something you move through, rather than something that happens to you.
Afterwards, I experienced the stark contrast of navigating early motherhood without that same level of support, and I later faced postnatal depression. That season deepened my understanding of how vulnerable new parenthood can be, but it was my birth experience that first ignited my passion for this work.
Now, as a doula, I am passionate about offering consistent, compassionate presence during pregnancy and labour. I believe every woman deserves to feel safe, informed, and deeply supported as she brings her baby into the world. Because how we are cared for in birth matters, and it stays with us.

My Approach
I believe deeply in the power of knowledge, choice, and connection. Pregnancy and birth don’t come with a manual - but with the right support, they don’t need to feel overwhelming.
As your doula, I offer continuous care that is grounded in empathy, evidence-based information, and emotional support. I am here to hold space for you - your questions, your instincts, your values, and your choices.
My role is to walk alongside you as a calm, encouraging presence. I’ll help you prepare for labour, explore your birth preferences, navigate options, and advocate for yourself with confidence. I’ll also be there during the powerful transition into life with a new baby - whether it’s your first or your fifth.
And I don’t just support women - I work closely with partners & your wider family too, helping them feel informed, involved, and ready to support you in the way you need most.
My Training & Experience
I trained with BirthBliss Academy and Healthy Babies UK in 2021 and have supported many families across Somerset and Devon since - across home births, birth centres, and hospitals, including Musgrove Park and the Royal Devon & Exeter.
Every birth is unique, and it is always a privilege to be invited into such a sacred and life-changing space.
I have supported spontaneous labours, inductions, emergency and planned caesareans. What matters most to me is that your voice is heard, your experience is respected, and you feel safe
and held - whatever path your birth takes.

Why I Do This Work
Because I know, first-hand, how much difference the right support makes.
Because I believe that every woman deserves to feel empowered, informed, and never alone.
Because I’ve seen how beautiful, strong, and transformative the journey into parenthood can be when it’s met with care, compassion, and continuity.
And because I know that navigating the maternity system is not an easy task. Appointments can feel rushed. Information can feel overwhelming. Decisions can feel heavy. Having someone by your side, someone who helps you understand your options and tune into your own instincts, can change everything.
It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child, but I believe it also takes a village to support a new mother.
As a doula, I would be honoured to be part of your village.

My Role as Your Doula
As your doula, I’ll be by your side through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period - offering continuity of care, practical guidance, and emotional support every step of the way.
Whether it’s talking through or attending antenatal appointments, supporting you during labour, helping with feeding, or easing the transition into family life,
I’m here to provide grounded, compassionate care that’s centred on you.
Each journey is different, and we can create a bespoke support package tailored to your needs, wherever you are in Somerset or Devon.
Antenatal Support
All kinds of births benefit from a doula. I support births at home, in birth centres, on labour wards - including inductions and caesarean births.
Together we’ll build a strong relationship based on trust and understanding. We'll:
-
Explore your birth preferences and options
-
Prepare for the many possible scenarios (plans A, B, C & D)
-
Discuss boundaries, thresholds, advocacy, consent and your informed choices
-
Plan for the postnatal period and feeding support
-
Talk through questions, worries or what-ifs as they arise
-
When labour begins, I’ll be there - supporting you through each stage, helping you feel calm, confident, and heard.
Postpartum Support
The fourth trimester can be a time of immense change.
My role is to ease that transition by supporting your recovery, emotional wellbeing, and new family life.
Postpartum support is highly individual and may include:
-
Feeding support (whatever your chosen method)
-
Caring for your baby so you can rest
-
Light household help or meal prep
-
Looking after older children or pets
-
Simply being a listening ear and gentle presence

SERVICES
Complete Doula Support Package
This is my flagship package, designed for those who want a familiar, trusted face by their side from pregnancy all the way through to those precious early weeks with your newborn.
We will meet three times before your birth, giving us real time together to prepare, not just practically, but emotionally too. Every session is shaped around you:
your story, your hopes, your questions, and your birth preferences. Then, when labour begins, I'm there. And when your baby arrives, I don't disappear, because the fourth trimester matters just as much.
Birth physiology: We will discuss how the body is designed to give birth, the hormones related to birth, how to utilise the natural process in the labour journey and all outcomes.
Birth preferences: This is an opportunity to discuss
your wants and wishes prior to the event. We will discuss locations for birth, pain relief options (both natural and pharmaceutical), potential interventions and different
birth scenarios so that we can have plans A,B,C and D
and the ways I can support you in all outcomes.
Discuss any previous birth and personal experiences:
We will work through all positive and any negative aspects
of previous experiences to see if there is any way those can be better understood for the upcoming birth.
Postnatal care preferences: We can discuss feeding options, frequently asked questions around caring for a newborn, practical and emotional support systems and any postnatal preparations that need to be in place. There is also the option to discuss continuing my care into the postnatal period.
Birth support partner: I will be on call for emotional, practical and informative support from 38-42 weeks and will of course attend your birth when the time comes.
Communication: I will work alongside other support services to ensure effective communication and help
facilitate any referrals.
